Oriental Fortune is an independently owned and operated Australian importer, retailer and specialist wholesaler of Chinese arts, artefacts and traditional art suppllies (brushes, traditional ink stick, Chinese brush paint, ink stones, rice paper and other accessories) from China.
Our Chinese teacher, Luisa is an experienced teacher. Mandarin is her native language. To help students to speak Chinese fluently is her ultimate goal. She also has been practicing Chinese Calligraphy from a very young age. Her calligraphy has a carefree style, reflects her personality.
If you have visited our shop in the famous Eumundi Market in Queensland Sunshine Coast, you would have met The Chinese Astrologer, Ian. He would have asked about your Chinese star sign straight way. And then he would tell everything about you and your love or hate relationship companions.
Autobiography
I was born in Tianjin, China on November, 1972. So I am a Water Rat (according to Chinese astrology) and Scorpio. When I was born, my name was Liu Yi (surname FIRST and fiven name Second in China). I was given an English name 'Lucy' when studying in Tianjin Foreign Language School. Yes, I was 'Lucy Liu' a long time before the movie star Lucy Liu made her name in Hollywood; however, there was one 'Lucy' in every class. so later I changed my name to 'Luisa" which is similar with my original name 'Liu Yi' with the Spanish Twists.
Ever since I could remember, I have had a berning desire to go overseas and see the world. How people could just dance in the street and wear low-cut shirt and skirt. Therefore I landed in Sydney, Australia in 1996. Ten years later, I realised how lucky I was that I didn't land anywhere else in the world.
I have worked as a translator and business consultant in Noosa, a tour guide in Sydney and Canberra, a private Chinese tutor but never as a lawyer in China or a ballerina on the stage. I studied law for FOUR years in China, and MBA in Sydney. Now I am finishing another degree in education and teaching Chinese in Montessori International College in Queensland and at home in Noosa.
I am happily married and have two beautiful sons. My favourite colour is blue and my favourite food is dumpling. I love drawing and playing with my new blue guitar and I am now an Australian citizen too.
